US lays out next steps for HFC phase-down
The US Environmental Defense Agency (EPA) has declared an HFC reduction of 40 for every cent underneath historic stages from 2024 via 2028. The rule aligns with the bipartisan American Innovation and Production (Goal) Act’s aims to reduce the generation and usage of HFCs by 85 per cent by 2036.
The US commenced its stage-down on January 1, 2022, with a reduction of HFC manufacturing and imports to 10 for each cent beneath historic baseline stages. Since then, allowances have been essential to import and produce HFCs.
