H&V News is sad to report the loss of life of Chris Bielby MBE, one particular of our longest-serving Awards judges, right after a fight with Motor Neurone Ailment.
Chris was a passionate advocate for Carbon Monoxide protection, and served on a variety of teams, which includes the All Party Parliamentary Carbon Monoxide Group (APPCOG) and the Carbon Monoxide Investigation Have confidence in, which he chaired.
In a tribute, Baroness Finlay, the current chair of the Carbon Exploration Have confidence in, observed that Chris invested his entire job in the fuel sector, advancing steadily through the ranks, at regional amount and then at British Gas’ head business, with basic safety being the popular thread.
In 1997, he joined Centrica, at which he represented the industry nationally to enable make improvements to its security history.
This led eventually to the creation of the Fuel Sector Security Team, which Chris chaired from 2000 onwards.
He was a Trustee of the CO Analysis Have faith in (previously the Fuel Basic safety Have confidence in) and was its Chair for much more than ten a long time.

Amongst other positions Chris held ended up staying President and Fellow of IGEM (the Institute of Fuel Engineers and Professionals) and Trustee  of the Countrywide Fuel Museum.
Baroness Finlay said: “He was rightly recognised for this perform by being awarded an MBE in 2012 and he designed a lasting perception on everybody who achieved him. Chris leaves an irreplaceable hole in our organisation, and we will overlook his knowledge, steering, and especially his perception of enjoyable. He was a real legend of the gasoline sector, and he will not be overlooked by buddies and colleagues.”

All those of us who labored along with Chris as an Awards choose will recall him as diligent, reasonable and over all, thoughtful.
