AC based on air-cooled photovoltaic-thermal system

Scientists in China declare to have designed a photovoltaic-thermal (PV/T) air conditioning process that utilizes an air-cooled condenser and a PV/T condenser put together in series.

The research was revealed not too long ago in Used Thermal Vitality, a technological journal.

Scientists from Hebei University of Technology say they have made the photovoltaic-thermal air conditioning procedure, whose novelty occurs from applying these two parts fairly than the extra usually implemented PV/T heat exchanger as the condenser.

“When solar electricity and long-wave radiation electricity sources are out there, the proposed system is acceptable irrespective of the kind of properties,” says researcher Gentleman Fan. “The method general performance is enhanced by the complementary utilisation of solar energy, air electrical power and extensive-wave radiation strength.”

Enthusiast states the PV/T condenser generates power during the day and assists the air-cooled condenser with heat dissipation during the night.

The process features an evaporator and condenser, a compressor, an electronic expansion valve (EEV), a four-way reversing valve, a gas-liquid separator, and a hot gas bypass valve. It makes use of R410A refrigerant.

“A bypass pipe is established among the air-cooled condenser and PV/T condenser,” the researchers say. “By managing valves near the bypass pipe, the technique can be converted concerning the air-cooled PV/T air conditioner and common air-cooled air conditioner.”

The research crew says that the change of air-cooled air conditioning process and the air-cooled PV/T air conditioning procedure relies upon mainly on the condensing outcome of the PV/T exchanger.

The academics applied a software program software that features simulation products for finned-tube evaporators and condensers. They found that the heat dissipation rate of the process condenser is “positively “correlated with outdoor wind speed, refrigerant circulation charge and inlet temperature, and “negatively” correlated with solar irradiance and outdoor temperature.
