James Harrison in the spotlight at Geelong Show


A distinctive show about Australian refrigeration pioneer James Harrison features in the Royal Geelong Demonstrate, working from October 13–16.

The show kinds portion of the Pioneer Museum, a selection of classic equipment including some gear run by two monumental steam engines.

The James Harrison portion of the Pioneer Museum options merchandise offered by the Geelong and Region Branch of the Nationwide Trust (GRBNT) that had been earlier shown at the James Harrison’s Momentous Achievements exhibition at Barwon Grange in March 2021. “The reproduction – with authorization of the Geelong Gallery – of James’ portrait has now been framed by former Chair of the James Harrison Museum Inc. Graham Hobbs, who is lending some of his publications and memorabilia to the screen.”

The Pioneer Museum will also be showing the 10-moment ABC Landline segment about Harrison, A Quite Interesting Thought, from its 2022 collection on Australian inventors.

The screen displays the ongoing endeavours to construct recognition for James Harrison, and in the long run to build a James Harrison museum.

“We are all still performing on promoting Harrison’s legacy in refrigeration, and community interest in Harrison’s story is expanding,” suggests Chalmers.
