North American Sustainable Refrigeration Council Releases Refrigerant Transition Hub to Help Retailers Shift from High Global Warming Refrigerants – HVAC Insider

August 10, 2022

The North American Sustainable Refrigeration Council (NASRC),a 501(c)(3) environmental nonprofit doing work to progress weather-welcoming organic refrigerants in supermarkets, right now announced it released a free refrigerant changeover hub to support merchants navigate regulation improvements applied by the American Innovation and Manufacturing (Aim) Act. Enacted in 2020, the Purpose Act authorizes the Environmental Protection Company (EPA) to period down hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerant greenhouse gas emissions by 85% by 2036.

“HFC restrictions from the Intention Act and numerous states are pressuring merchants to changeover to weather-helpful refrigerants,” said Danielle Wright, govt director of NASRC. “Retailers require neutral info to aid them make the right conclusions. NASRC is effective in partnership with the supermarket business, so we are uniquely positioned to establish the gaps in available assets.”

The federal phasedown of HFCs is expected to result in refrigerant shortages and sizeable selling price raises. In Europe, refrigerant rates elevated by 900% adhering to a very similar HFC phasedown. Also, new legislation released in states such as California proposed to ban the sale and distribution of virgin HFC refrigerants as early as 2025, further more driving the will need for pure refrigerant remedies.

About the Refrigerant Changeover Hub

NASRC will continue to evolve the hub as state and federal governments pass new legislation. Some of the resources obtainable now contain:

HFC Policy Tracker– An interactive map to aid shops in navigating the advanced process of laws by tracking the most recent procedures at the federal and condition ranges.

Purely natural Refrigerants in Supermarkets Factsheet– An overview of why organic refrigerants in supermarkets are a single of the most impactful and value-efficient local climate options.

Nat Ref Tech Library– The most comprehensive collection of shows on the most up-to-date organic refrigerant technologies.

About the North American Sustainable Refrigeration Council
