INDIA: Daikin has laid the basis stone for its 3rd air conditioning manufacturing unit in India at Sri Metropolis, Andhra Pradesh.
Attended by Japan’s Ambassador to India, Satoshi Suzuki, the ceremony marked the start out of building of the US$120m manufacturing unit, which is expected to commence procedure from 2023. It will provide the domestic market place and exports to the Middle East and Africa.
The Japanese producer initial entered the Indian marketplace in 2000 in a 80/20 joint venture with the Usha Shriram Group, a major Indian maker of electrical and digital items. It opened its initial manufacturing unit at Neemrana, Rajasthan, in 2008, adding a US$48m R&D centre in 2016 and finishing a 2nd plant at Neemrana, costing $145m, in 2017.
