EUROPE: EU ecosystem committee rapporteur Bas Eickhout has hit out at critics of the F-fuel proposals, accusing them of defending American and Japanese refrigerant passions.
Talking at the close of today’s F-fuel plenary conference in the European Parliament, Eickhout claimed it was time to decide on for European sector and European innovation more than the the aims of American and Japanese lobbyists.
“When you are declaring this is a eco-friendly ideology, you are defending American and Japanese businesses who like to market some of these chemicals and are only intrigued in innovation in the chemicals themselves, which in the close even deliver PFAS in heat pumps.”
He denied claims from some MEPs that the F-gasoline proposals ended up benefiting the pursuits of German firms.
“This is an market that is all about Europe. And it’s all about Europe investing in the innovation and in new work and that is specifically what we’re supporting right here,” he reported. “The American and the Japanese businesses are not heading into that innovation, it is the European ones.”
